TMT (Treadmill Stress Test) in Anand

A treadmill test (TMT) records your heart's electrical activity while you walk on a treadmill, revealing problems that do not show up at rest — such as reduced blood supply from narrowed arteries. It is a simple, widely used screening test for exertional chest pain and coronary risk.

When it is advised: chest tightness or breathlessness on exertion, risk assessment in people with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or a family history of heart disease, and as a fitness or return-to-activity check. Where a clearer picture is needed, Dr. Rohan P. Parikh may advise a stress echo instead.

The test takes about 15 to 30 minutes. If it is positive, the next step is usually an echocardiogram or coronary angiography to confirm the cause.
